We are thrilled to announce that TPA Automatika has delivered the full automation solution for the
new biodiesel production plant of Mestilla in the Klaipėda Free Economic Zone – a landmark project
strengthening Lithuania’s energy independence and sustainable manufacturing capabilities.
The plant is part of a €60 million investment by Mestilla aimed at advancing the country’s
renewable-energy capacity and reducing reliance on fossil fuels. The new facility, which kicks off
adjacent to the existing oil-processing infrastructure, will enable a significantly increased rapeseed
processing and biodiesel production capacity.
As Mestilla states, the plant uses “cutting-edge technology to extract and process oil and produce
biodiesel, ensuring a completely automated production process, effective energy utilization, and the
smallest possible impact on the environment.”
By supporting domestic rapeseed processing and biodiesel output, the investment aligns with both
national and EU-level targets for circular economy, resource efficiency and greenhouse-gas
reduction.
TPA’s Role – From Design to Commissioning
We were entrusted with the complete Automation Control System of the biodiesel facility
— encompassing engineering, hardware procurement, software development, panel manufacture,
installation and final commissioning.
Key project highlights include:
- PLC platform: Siemens SIMATIC S7-1500— delivering high-performance control,
modularity and future scalability. - SCADA system: Simatic WinCC — enabling centralized supervision, fast diagnostics and operator usability.

Outcome & Value Delivered
Thanks to this integrated automation solution:
- The biodiesel production process is now fully automated, reducing manual intervention,
minimizing errors and increasing safety. - Energy usage is optimized, aided by advanced drives, real-time monitoring and efficient motor control — contributing to sustainable operations.
 - The plant’s operations are designed for high reliability, ready for continuous 24/7 processing
under industrial conditions.
Why this matters
In today’s world where climate targets, energy security and sustainable manufacturing converge,
this project stands at the intersection of industrial automation and green energy. By automating the
entire facility, TPA Automatika not only delivers technology — but also empowers the customer to
meet strategic goals around renewable fuels, efficiency and circular economy.
For our team, the project reaffirms our capability to execute large-scale automation projects in
highly regulated, complex industrial sectors. We’re proud of the collaboration with Mestilla and our
equipment & system partners, and we look forward to further supporting Lithuania’s and Europe’s
clean-energy transition.
